On Thursday, January 17, 2019, at REBNY’s 123rd Annual Banquet at the New York Hilton in Midtown Manhattan, I will have the pleasure of honoring Diane Ramirez with the Bernard H. Mendik Lifetime Leadership in Real Estate Award for her truly exceptional career in our industry.
Everyone who knows Diane understands that she embodies the values of former REBNY Chairman Bernard Mendik, exemplified by her leadership and dedicated service to the real estate industry throughout her career and her philanthropic contributions in and out of the real estate community.
Diane is the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Halstead Real Estate and under her thoughtful leadership, it has grown from its original goal of three storefront offices to its current size of three dozen strategically located offices with more than 1,300 agents throughout New York City, the Hamptons, Hudson Valley, New Jersey, and Connecticut.
Along with other top real estate executives from all over the world, Diane serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Leading Real Estate Companies of the World (LeadingRE), which is a selective global community of over 565 independent real estate firms and 130,000 associates from over 70 countries producing over one million transactions valued at $372 billion annually. This coming year, she will be named LeadingRE’s Chairman of the Board of Directors.
Diane was appointed by the Governor to the New York Department of State Real Estate Board in 2010 and is an active member. She is also an accredited continuing education teacher for the State.
Her philanthropic contributions have reached beyond the real estate community, but the reality is that she has done so much more than that for our City.
Diane is often recognized for her civic achievements and was presented with the New York Moves “Power Women” honor, the City & State “CSR Responsible 100”, and the OTTY “Eastsider of the Year” Award, each of which acknowledge outstanding involvement in the community. Mrs. Ramirez was also honored by the Neighborhood Coalition for Shelter with the Celine Marcus Community Service Award. She and her husband, Sam Ramirez, are long-standing supporters of the Valerie Fund in New Jersey, an organization that helps children with cancer, and were honored at their annual Thanksgiving Gala for their involvement and dedication to the charity.

Her commitment to the New York City community has been acknowledged by REBNY in the past. She received the Kenneth R. Gerrety Humanitarian Award, a top REBNY award for meritorious service to the community, and The Henry Forster Award for Lifetime Achievement, the REBNY Residential Brokerage Division’s highest recognition for long-standing excellence, professionalism, and contributions to the community.
Her leadership at REBNY extends to her service as a member of our Executive Committee, Board of Governors, and as Co-Chairman of the Board of Directors for our Residential Brokerage Division. Diane was an early supporter of REBNY and played an integral role in the development of many of our committees including Ethics and Education. We are thrilled that Diane will be honored at our 123rd Annual Banquet this January, and we hope you will join us to celebrate her career of service to the real estate industry and New York City.
