A minor fire broke out at an under-construction building in Forest City Ratner’s Pacific Park development in Downtown Brooklyn Wednesday morning, according to the FDNY.
The small fire broke out in one of the apartment units of 461 Dean Street, on the corner of Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn. There were no injuries, and firefighters were able to put out the fire quickly.
“This morning 461 Dean construction workers alerted the fire department about a small, isolated fire in one of the building’s apartment units,” Forest City Ratner Companies said in a statement to Real Estate Weekly. “The fire was extinguished promptly and there were no injuries. We take construction site safety extremely seriously and will take steps to reinforce all safety protocols across the worksite.”
The 32-story modular building has 181 below-market rate units of its 363 total apartments. The lottery for the affordable units launched in April. Designed by SHoP Architects, the building is expected to start move-ins sometime in the fall.
Forest City’s Pacific Park megaproject, when completed, will contain a total of 6,430 apartments, with 2,250 of the units designated affordable.
