The New York State technology industry added nearly 15,500 jobs in 2015 bringing the total tech employment in the state to nearly than 370,000, ranking it third in the country.
The figures were published in Cyberstates 2016: The Definitive State-by-State Analysis of the U.S. Tech Industry from the Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA).
The nearly 15,500 jobs added represents a 4.4percent increase in 2015. New York trails only California and Texas in overall tech employment.
New York also ranks fifth in average tech wage with employees in the state earning more than $109,000 – 62 percent higher than the average private sector wage.
Signs of growth continue to be strong in the state with more than 60,000 tech occupation job posting in Q4 2015, a 44 percent increase year-over-year.
“The U.S. tech industry is a major driving force in the overall economy, accounting for 7.1 percent of overall GDP and 11.6 percent of total private sector payroll,ˮ said Todd Thibodeaux, president and CEO, CompTIA.
