Monica Luque, of The Luque Team at Douglas Elliman, has closed on the triplex penthouse at the top of the Studio Building for $10.8 million.
The 5,500 s/f, 14-room home has been a favorite of the real estate press for years, sitting atop a historic co-op originally built for artists and crafted over the years by the seller to take advantage of its 18 ft. ceilings and wraparound terrace.
According to Luque, “The penthouse attracted over 200 visitors, which included numerous celebrities as it is a unique opportunity to create a trophy penthouse in the Upper West Side.”
The penthouse was purchased by a local couple and while they paid nearly $4 million less than the asking price, the deal is still one of the few on the Upper West Side to close above $10 million in the past 12 months.
The seller had originally bought two units for $1.7 million and spent another $1 million combing them to create the penthouse.
