Consumer giant consolidating at BLT property

Henkel Consumer Goods Inc. has leased 135,000 s/f of office space at 200 Elm Street in Downtown Stamford, owned by Building and Land Technology (BLT).

The newly renovated space will serve as the new headquarters for Henkel in North America and sets the stage for significant expansion.

In September, Henkel announced its acquisition of Sun Products, the Wilton-CT based manufacturer and marketer of several well-known household brands, including Snuggle.

Henkel also announced the relocation of its operations in Arizona to Stamford, CT, representing an important step toward fully integrating Henkel and Sun Products operations.

“We’re incredibly pleased that Henkel selected 200 Elm,” said Carl R. Kuehner, III, CEO of BLT. “It’s gratifying that a company of Henkel’s stature appreciates the product and the value we’ve created by remaking this asset. This is also a great result for the City of Stamford, inspiring further confidence in the future of the Fairfield County office market. Our state and our city have a remarkable amount to offer major tenants seeking an educated workforce and world class amenities.”

Henkel will occupy two floors of 200 Elm at BLT Financial Centre, the renovated and reconfigured two-building Class A office complex that formerly housed the headquarters of Gen Re.

After acquiring the property in 2012, BLT completed a multi-million-dollar renovation, transforming a vacant corporate property into an amenity-rich, fully modernized pair of office buildings with distinct addresses and identities.

The transaction provides for signage rights providing Henkel with high visibility along I-95.
“We are pleased to be able to provide our employees with a work space in a dynamic city that offers the best of urban culture combined with the convenience of easy transportation and a high quality of life,” said Jens-Martin Schwaerzler, President of Henkel Consumer Goods Inc. North America.
“Our new facility at 200 Elm Street will showcase a forward-thinking office design, fostering a high level of creativity and collaboration, which are fundamental for our growth and success as a thriving consumer goods business.”

BLT Financial Centre is comprised of two distinct interconnected buildings, surrounded by a private landscaped courtyard and first class shared amenities.

Deloitte recently leased 695 East Main Street, the Clock Tower Building, in its entirety. 200 Elm Street boasts a new four-story atrium grand entrance, modernized elevators, new roofs, new bathrooms, new large conference facility and collaboration areas.

Amenities include a full-service café with grand rotunda seating area, outdoor central courtyard, full service fitness center managed by Exhale Spa, manned security stations with surveillance, control gates and card key access 24/7/365.

BLT Financial Center is near the Stamford Transportation Center and adjacent to I-95, convenient for all commuters, and walking distance to shopping centers, hotel and restaurants. Complimentary Trolley service is offered to Harbor Point and Downtown Stamford. Electric car chargers are available.
