Architecture firm nabs three floors in One Willoughby Square

FXFOWLE enjoyed its latest project, a 34-story office building in Downtown Brooklyn, so much that it’s decided to lease space there—three full floors, to be exact.

The Chelsea-based architecture firm signed a 15-year lease for at total of 40,000 s/f at One Willoughby Square, a half-million square foot high-rise being built by JEMB Realty Corporation on Albee Square.

Guy Geier, managing partner of FXFOWLE, said his company made the decision to move from Chelsea, where the firm has been headquartered for 30 of its 40 years of operation, because many of his employees are based in Brooklyn and the new building, with its amenity spaces, terraces and open work spaces, suits their office needs.

“While designing the building, we were able to imagine what we would look for as a tenant and created a building that has a sense of creativity and flexibility,” Geier said in a press release. “We then had the epiphany that we wanted to be in this building since it will perfectly reflect our company culture.”

Andrew Weiss Signature Partners represented FXFOWLE in the leasing transaction while JEMB was represented in-house.

FXFOWLE, which also has offices in Washington, D.C., has worked on noteworthy buildings such as Eleven Times Square, 3 Hudson Boulevard and the New York Times Building.

“We are thrilled to welcome FXFOWLE as our anchor tenant to this iconic new office tower,” JEMB chair Morris Bailey said. “Given this is the first ground-up office building in Brooklyn in decades we have received tremendous interest from the tenants who are looking for new construction, column free, efficient space with tremendous natural light and views. We always envisioned this building to be occupied by progressive creative companies and we are ecstatic that our vision is coming to fruition. We look forward to welcoming many more tenants into this special building.”
